Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) has named Homer W. Lane Jr. as chief financial officer and chief administrative officer. He will lead financial planning and budgeting, general accounting, external reporting and tax compliance functions supporting BRI’s operational and business needs. Additionally, Lane will manage facilities, information technology and administrative services at BRI. "We are most pleased to have a research executive of Mr. Lane’s knowledge and experience join our senior management team at BRI," says Jack Nagan, BRI Executive Director.

Most recently, Lane served as chief financial officer for The Marine Biological Laboratory, a research and educational institution based in Woods Hole, Mass. In that role, he was responsible for all financial functions, including budgeting, financial planning, investment selection and intellectual property control, and oversaw the Office of Sponsored Programs. Prior to that, he spent more than two decades in the banking industry and held positions in investment banking, treasury, global services and commercial lending areas.
Lane has a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia University Business School. He is an active member of the Association of Independent Research Institutes (AIRI) and currently the organization’s vice president of member communications.
