Sarah Kobernat received her BA in biochemistry from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois (Go Prairie Fire!). She completed her PhD in Biomolecular Sciences at Boise State University, where she was able to dip her toes into a wide variety of research topics from liver toxicology to synthetic biology. Her dissertation research explored the utility and feasibility of using DNA origami for high-density data storage.
Sarah recently joined Alice Long’s lab to pursue translational immunology research in T1D. Her current focus is on antigen specific T cell signaling in the context of T1D and T cell exhaustion. Outside of the lab, Sarah enjoys hiking with her dogs in the mountains and skiing.
