Minjian graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and MSci in Ophthalmology from medical school of Fudan University in Shanghai, China. She then received her PhD in Vision Science at University of California-Berkeley. For the dissertation she studied the ocular immune defense against Pseudomonas aeruginosa keratitis in Dr. Suzanne Fleiszig’s lab. After completing her PhD, Minjian joined Jessica Hamerman Lab to study the regulation of inflammatory responses in macrophages. Her research has involved understanding the role of macrophages in regulating the immune responses to PAMPs or DAMPs. Minjian’s current project focuses on investigating tissue macrophage development regulated by an actin remodeling protein. Outside of her work, Minjian enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cuddling with her cats, cooking, and gardening.
